Metformin and feet

Hi, need some opinions please... I stopped taking Metformin 6weeks ago. My blood sugars were between 100-120 mg/dl... My ha1c hemoglobin test was 5.8% (40 mmol/mol), three months ago it was 6%. So, without Metformin for six weeks my blood never test is the same...between 100-120... do I need to take Metformin??? Secondly, my feet still have 'sensations' just behind my toes...I take Gabapentine for this but I don't think it does much...any ideas/comments would be much appreciated... Alan
