Metformin and heart / vascular disease

Now that IS interesting. Suffering the usual Metabolic Syndrome of Hypertension and T2 and obesity I had defined my goals to exercise and lose weight with a target to reduce my BP and BG sufficiently this year to either reduce or remove at least one medication.
Last year I managed to get from 3 X different drugs for BP down to 2.
My target this year was to reduce Metformin from my current 4 X 500 per day to either 3 or 2
I may now have to have a rethink on that as it appears Metformin may be more 'on my side' than I thought!!

Interesting if you have the heart problem (aortic stenosis) which this study is referring to. Sadly metformin has not been shown to help with atherosclerosis i.e. the heart disease that gets most diabetics. So the best advice still seems to be doing something that reduces your body's exposure to insulin and glucose theeby helping your metabolic syndrome get reversed i.e. eating a low carb diet so that your insulin resistance is lowered such that you need less pills.
