metformin and saxagliptin

Hi everyone...
I am 44 and diagnosed as type 2 in March this year.
My hba 1c was 10.6 at first, then after 3mths on 2 metformin it went down to 8.4
After the last 3mths on 4 metformin a day it's hardly moved - it's 8.2
So tonight I've been prescribed saxagliptin to go with 2 metformin
Have read somewhere that saxaglipti can cause hypo' s? Or does this not apply when you take metformin?

It doesn't cause hypos, I'm on a similar DPP-4 inhibitor.

I had to have a 3 month review to ensure no adverse effects, kidney function is still ok, and it seems to work well.

Good old NHS, it's around $$ to $10 a tablet if you're buying them.
