metformin causing my problems?

I started metformin (500mg) 10 days ago

for the last couple of days, I've had a swollen tounge and a sore throat on one side

I know this may just be a coincidence as there are a lot of sore throats about but could this be a side affect of metformin?

I dont know whether I should take my meds or not

has this happened to anyone else? if so.......does it go of its own accord/keep taking the tablets?

my diabetic nurse isnt in today so I would appreciate your thoughts
 
Hi

This could be an allergic reaction to the metformin and it would be wise to speak to a health care professional as soon as you can. If it gets too bad you may want to use A & E or your local walk-in centre. I cannot really advise on stopping the medication.
