Hi Sorry this is long, my husband has had type 2 discovered when he had a heart by pass 6 years ago , he is rather hopless at controlling his blood sugars and frequently has a level of 18 to 22,
but i have gone on the south beach diet and put him on it to, ok he is not as strict as me and will still eat chips and bread,
just recently the doctor did one of those 3 month blood test it averaged at 9.7 so he has put him on 500mg of Metformin twice a day
Hubby has been on 25mg before
ok this morning his blood sugars were 11.2 , about an hour after taking the tablet, he got a server headache, feels drunk blurred vision lousy tired, this is reasonable normal for him and means a drop in blood sugar its now 5.6 which it hasnt been in year
I cant understand the headaches they make him want to sleep, he keeps burbing and gets confused
i really dont think he should be on the tablets as the diet hasnt had a chance and the days prior to the tablets his blood have maintained at around 6.7,
although still around 11 in the mornings
please some advice our nurse and doctors here are hopeless dont seem worried at all and they dont listen
I am posting as he cant use a pc he is 62 and on lots of medication for heart and blood pressure as well as thyroid stuff as had his thyroid removed in his early 20,s
