Hi everybody have not been on for awhile been trying to get my head around everything. Was first told from Durham Hospital that I had type 1 which was a shock at 63 years old with no signs of diabetes, so had my own test do only to find out I am a type 2 shocking. They started me on insulin Levemie 18 mmol in the morning and the same at night with 16 mmol Novorapid three times a day. After my own results Mr Carey at Sunderland a great doctor started me on metformin. I started 1 in the morning and 1 at night everything was OK, increasing to 2 at night now 2 both morning and night all over a three week period. My levels have stayed good all around 5.4 to 6.2 no hypos and I have now stopped taking the novorapid all together and now I am starting the reduce the Levemier 4 in the morning and 9 at night. Feeling a bit shity with hunger pains and abdominal pains and I am sick of food but I am eating to keep levels OK. I am going on holiday next week to Spain and a concerned that the stopping of insulin and taking metformin my be too much for my body the handle so can some suggest if I take my insulin with me what I should do if I continue to feel sick which is the last thing you want to feel like on holiday?????????.
