Metformin- new user

I’ve been on SR for the last 15 or so years with no issues apart from an impact to my vitamin B levels when I increased to the 2000mg but I supplement against this

I haven’t heard about any withdrawal or safety issues. Is this a country specific issue?

SR is better for me than normal, but not everyone tolerates but hopefully you will find it works better

My surgery does yearly blood work to check on the vitamin levels and hba1c etc. So the impact on my levels was picked up quickly.

I hope the SR works for you, honestly many of us tolerate it really well.

it should have some impact on your levels but it isn’t normally huge so might be worth also seeing if your diet could be tweaked to help support

also now you are on metformin, have you made sure to get your prescription exemption form?

There is no general problem with SR which I've been taking for many years. There was a problem with one brand, I think in the USA, that was resolved.

I stopped taking Metformin over a year ago as I was suffering severe side effects. I have been taking Berberine which is a natural product my sugar levels are slightly lower since and I get no side effects. suggest you look up this item on Web and read what it says about comparisons with Metformin. Only downside is that I have to buy it myself as cannot get it prescribed. When I discussed it with my surgery they had never heard of it. Gave them a print out about it. Heard nothing since.
