HI - just a general query here. About 1 year ago my medication was changed from Human Mixard 30 to the above instead. Since then - although my blood tests are quite a bit better I seem to be having a whole number of other problems - just can't figure out if any of them are related to the change in medication....? Was on Human Mixard for 12 years, from age 13, but was then advised that this is an "old and out-dated insulin" and that the above two would be better. All seemed OK until Feb this year and it might just be down to so many bugs/ swine flu going round but i have never felt so ill in my life! In general i am hardly ever sick - a sore throat is usually about my limit but so far i've had ea number of problems - trouble with vision - 4 months later finally advised i need cataract surgery (which is ridiculous as my eyes are otherwise fine and healthy!), been having terrible pain in back/ sides, generally feeling sick and tired unless i eat (yet i'm meant to eat less, not more...) and generally managing to pick up one bug/ infection after another. Is it just me or is anyone else having problems or know if these might be related to the change in meds??

Hi Louise,
My son went through a similar experience this year, long story short, after mixtard 20 and numerous others settled on Levimer and humalog. For about 4 months whilst settling into the routine he had constant stomach pain, headaches and felt like cr*p, he also picked up every viral infection going at school! Whilst at his clinic they did loads of blood tests, by the time they came back, ( all negative) he started feeling fine, blood sugars ok, weight gain and height ok. So i reackon its just the side effects of the mix and your body getting used to the new mixture.
That was our experience and yours sounds similar, hope this is of some help and good luck,
Take care,
Suzi x
