metformin reduction

hello I have been advised by my GP that I should know reduce my metformin from 2000 mg per day, 4 tablets, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening down to just 1 tablet 500mg. should I take this in the morning or in the evening or does it matter. thanks in advance
 
I dont think it really matters, its a maintenance dose that keeps your levels steady. Not like diabetic medicines that have a more immediate affect,.

I take mine in the morning.

It stays in your system for 4 days oros, so its more keeping that level in your body over time. I take in the morning but if i forgot i take in the afternoon.

Yes I take mine in the morning with breakfast or if I forget with lunch or even sometimes with dinner.

When I came off Metformin, I stopped the morning dose and just took the evening one with dinner.

I have stopped taking them now for over a year.
