metformin side effect or bug?

Hi I have been on metformin sr for 3 months. Built up dosage over 3 weeks to 3 a day no ill effects whatsoever. My dose was increased to 4 a day on wednesday and found myself rushing to the loo today about 30 minutes after eating and taking tablets. Is it likely to be them do we think or is 30 minutes a bit quick for this side effect. Many thanks
 
My guess would be the Metformin. It's earned a bit of a reputation for this sort of thing. Make sure you take with food, this helps. I would speak to your doc and ask for Metformin SR ( slow release ). This is much kinder on the stomach and helps in most cases.

Take them with food and it will settle down after a while


Diagnosed type II 1998 2 x 80 mg Gliclazide, 4 x 500mg Metformin and 1 x 100mg Sitagliptin
 
I am on the SR and have been taking with food without fail so just seems strange it starting to affect me now
 
Ok I am not in the SR but did find it was a problem for me but has been ok for a while now
