Metformin side effect

Hi I've been on 500mg x 3 per day for about 3 months with no problems until just recently when I noticed what I hope is a serious side effect rather than a total change in personality. Not for the first time last night at 02.00 I was woken by a severe panic attack (not had them before) and a feeling I couldn't breath after researching my symptoms on good old Google it came up with Anxiety/panic attack which helped me calm down and stopped me racing to A&E. Anyone else had similar and what did u do if anything.

can I add that a hypo can sometimes feel like a panic attack, although hypo symptoms last longer

I was getting hypo 'type' symptoms at that level when I was coming down from high BG's. Apparently if you've been high for a good while it takes the body some time to get used to low BG's. Took me about 2 months to feel really comfortable with a BG below 6. (I'm injecting insulin, not on Metformin.)
