Metformin Side Effects

Hi

I have just been changed from Metformin 500mg tablets to the slow release Metformin as I had a total lack of appetite. I am now having an itchy leg and chest, nothing too serious but I have a slight rash. My blood glucose is pretty good I think highest is about 7 down to 4.3. Is this itching one of the side effects and if so does it ease with time?

Never heard that one, but why don't you Goole it?
 
Signs of an allergic reaction, including an unexplained skin rash, itching, hives, wheezing or trouble breathing, or unexplained swelling.
 
I googled it and found the allergy side effects too, Hives, itching, etc.
Allergy can occur to almost anything.

anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea (usually transient), abdominal pain, metallic taste; rarely lactic acidosis (withdraw treatment), decreased vitamin-B12 absorption, erythema, pruritus and urticaria; hepatitis also reported
