Been Type 2 for over 10 years and have been taking Metformin for all that time with no real problems ..

But the last couple months been suffering with nausea, gas, indigestion, that permanent feeling that I need to go to the loo, and it has been gradually getting worse, and making life real tedious.

These all seem to be the problems that people report as the not so nice side effects of Metformin..

Just wondering if after all these years I am suddenly getting these side effects???

I'm not an expert but I wouldn't have thought so somehow - maybe you could change to the SR version to be on the safe side? I would advise you to go to the doc and get this checked out anyway, especially as it's not been a problem for you before now, any real change in bowel/digestion habits should really be investigated. Good luck:)

As has already been said, it doesn't sound likely, but a visit to GP to see what's what sounds like good advice.

Again, as mentioned, change in diet could easily contribute to the not so good side effects, I had terrible problems, significantly less when I reduced carbs to 80gms or so a day.
