Type 2 metformin side effects

Hi All I am new here although i have had T2 for probably 10 years ..up until now i have had few probs except some eye problems which may or may not be diabetes related ..I have been taking Metformin all the time and had no discernible side effects , however just recently i have been fell really rough and on visiting Dr Google ( after my GP)I have learnt that a lot of the symptoms i am experiencing could be linked to Metformin. My question is ...could side effects become apparent after all this time ..I am on 2 x 500mg 3 times a day + 1 saxagliptim I have recently visited my doctor and he is doing a battery of blood tests including kidneys, liver , infection inflammatory and rheumatism markers ..but he did not mention anything about diabetes except to comment that my last blood tests were pretty good . There are various drugs I don't tolerate well these include anti-inflammatory and all statins ...

It is unlikely that the side effects of Metformin would take as long to manifest themselves. Perhaps the tests your doctor is running will shed some light on your problems.

thanks for the reply all the tests came back normal ...A1c a bit high ..probably from Xmas ..was 8.3 ...nurse who done ECG said heart was a bit fast at 99 BPM ...was told the doctor would contact me if they were worried
