I have to take metformin one tablet a day in morning our practice nurse is keeping a check on my blood sugars do I need to still check my own blood on weekly basis
I also take Metformin but I still check my blood sugars throughout the day.
Metformin alone won't help your sugar levels or your T2 much but a change in lifestyle will. By changing the foods you eat, and increasing exercise, you can gain better control. Initially you will need to check your blood sugar levels before and 2 hours after each meal to check which foods affect you.
I think it is better to check every day , so you yourself do get an idea of how much different kinds of foods do spike your blood glucose, then you will know what to eat less of and what not to eat , and what is okay for you..
In the end it is only you that cn keep your blood glucose down , and to most that don´t measure themselves the numbers sneek upwards all the time if they don´t take strict control
it would also be a very good idea to count how many grams of carbs you eat all in all every day and the same with proteins... because proteins do also affect blood glucose numbers..
also it is much easier to loose weight if one wants that , when going very low in carbs. many type 2 diabetics benifites from that in that matter.
