I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in November 2016 - I am 60. I was given Metformin and told to take 1 a day for two week,, 2 day for the third and fourth week, gradually increasing to 4 tablets a day (2 in the morning and 2 in the evening). The tablets upset my stomach to start with so I started taking them in the middle of my meal, however on taking the 3rd tablet my stomach became upset again so I have just not increased to 3 tablets. Has anyone else had this problem and do any of you take one tablet with breakfast, lunch and then dinner, rather than 2 at breakfast and dinner?

I have also been on the four week course run by the NHS which I found really useful, lots of information given out and nice to meet any people who had Type 2.

If you are having problems tolerating the prescribed dosage of Metformin, you might want to ask your GP to prescribe extended release Metformin. This has helped some people.
