Type 2 Metformin

Hi I was diagnosed two weeks ago now and had my first diabetic clinic with the practice nurse at my local GP surgery . We have no practice doctors here just locum , it’s been like this for years now and doesn’t help when you are needing some sort of continuity of care ,
Anyway the nurse asked if I had been started on any metformin ,which I haven’t , she seems to think I should start on it but I was very reluctant and said no . I’m keen to hear of any info available on taking it ..positive /negative

In my opinion it depends on what your blood sugar levels are. What was your last HbA1c and when you test during the day what levels do you see and when? Metformin can have its downsides. I have never taken it, and have never been offered it.
