My fasting BS is now pretty stable around 5.3. I am on low carb which is now becoming easier. My question is to what extent does Metformin play a part in the reduction of my BS, the reason I'm asking is the nurse on the telephone said the Metformin are really working?
You can read all you need to know (and probably quite a bit more) here, http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/14045911.php
Do explore the site generally, it's a very good source of information.

I'm afraid the NHS thinks that tablets work better than they often actually do. Metformin never reduces bs by much. A low-carb diet has a much greater effect as you have found but many DNs and GPs won't believe it due to their limited training.
