Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization, and therefore it's effects will be different from person to person.There also seems to be a lot of discussion about how effective it is if taken before or during a meal.</blockquote>
