mid morning spikes

Hi there im new to all of this , my 6 year old daughter has been newly diagnosed with type 1 and she has been a little star she has took it all in her stride. We thought we was doing well her numbers where a bit up and down but its what you expect when newly diagnosed but we was more in the range then not , but over the last 3 days she has been having a mid morning spike she has been going to school between 6 and 7 but spiking right up to 17 + at around 11. Has anyone else experienced this and how have you dealt with it .
 
It could simply be that she has been producing some insulin herself still - many have a 'honeymoon period' when first diagnosed, but this has stopped now. A bit more info would be helpful for people to answer though.
What time are her injections and breakfast? Does her reading stay high or start to drop back down again? Could she have a bit of a cold or anything like that? And I hate to ask this when we're talking about a 6yr old, but could she be stressing about anything at school the last few days?

Somebody on here will be able to give you some advice I'm sure x
 
Hi @adam83 - welcome to the forum.

Are you in regular contact with your diabetic team, as this is something I would ask them. The spike could be down to a few things, it sounds more like not enough quick acting insulin taken for breakfast if she remains high without any correction, but as she is 6 years old it's probably a question best answered by your team. There is alot to learn early on so I wish you well
 
What is her activity around then? Does she have a gym class? Exercise raises a lot of T1' s. I know it does me.

Or even if she's found a new game to play at break time which is particularly energetic?

It must be so daunting with all these possibilities but you will get there x
 
Thank you for your response , i think it is the honeymoon period that she is experiencing , she has started to settle down a bit now but its a real rollercoaster of emotions thats for sure
