My addiction to carbs
Yesterday at work I had a horrible headache, one of those where you get a pain behind one eye, also threw up. Haven't had a migraine for several years. Anyway, didn't do any glucose testing yesterday but today find my sugars are much higher than usual.

I tested before lunch, first reading 8.8, washed hands, 2nd reading 8, changed fingers 8.4. So def not a fluke. 90 mins after lunch, 8.4 (had to go out). 3 hours after lunch, still up at 7.7.

I've still got a slight headache today. Would my sugars be elevated because of migraine, or could the migraine be brought on by higher than normal sugars?

Thanks all,

Lesley

Hi @Lesleywo, I do get migraines but that is two days before my period, something to do with hormones/pms and usually goes away after that. Hopefully someone would be able to help you out, not too sure about blood sugars though :)

Thanks Adelle ... I haven't had one for quite some time. Just can't really explain the elevated sugars :-)

My migraines are caused by low blood sugar. I get insatiable hunger for carbs. I used to get migraine as a child if I missed a meal.
Migraine has caused hell all my life. Now mainly controlled by triptans, which can cause their own problems.
Would be interesting to test blood sugar as soon as you get sense migraine approaching, but of course I hope you won't have the chance to do this!
Best wishes,
Jane.
