Hi all, hope you're well.

I had my diabetic eye screening at noon yesterday. My left eye kept 'shrinking back' so there were 3 attempts made before a suitable image was captured.

Since leaving the clinic I have had a severe migraine. The whole left side of my head is hurting and painkillers 4 hourly aren't taking the edge off at all.

I've been diabetic 10 years and have had regular eye screening but have never had a migraine triggered by having it done..
Has anyone ever experienced this?

I've found I'm more sensitive to the light than I use to be but not had a migraine, but looking on the NHS website about the eye screening service it says the following about side-effects:

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/diabetic-eye-screening/Pages/Introduction.aspx#whathappens

I've had a migraine and nausea before. I now have a reduced amount of drops and that's helped a lot.

Is your headache easing now?

The wife did .. and is not diabetic ,, do you suffer with migraines anyway ? or is this new to you ..

Thank you @noblehead @azure and @Enclave.

I was seeing pink and purple light and had some blurred vision in the left eye too for around 15 minutes after the eye screening.

I didn't actually get any drops put in my eye, they didn't think I needed them.

I dont usually suffer from migraines, it's still as intense as it was yesterday. It's been 25.5 hours now, I think I'll call nhs 24 for advice

That seemed like a sensible thing to do, keep the thread updated on your progress @kimrooney89

Thanks everyone for your comments. I ended up being given an appointment at out of hours. Have been given a diagnosis of sinusitis...I don't feel this is accurate as I dont have a cold or any cold like symptoms. Been sent home with a decongestant.

I agree @Dark Horse, that sounds exactly like what I have...Maybe the eye screening is just a coincidence or triggered the migraine

Whatever it is, rest and look after yourself. I hope it eases soon.

Do hope your rid of the migraine soon.. it can take the wife a few days to recover fully from a migraine, so take time to heal.
