Hi,

I'm having issues with Metformin (but not side effects thankfully) in that it forces me to eat more carbs!

If I don't I get hungry and have migraines. I have spoken to my GP about it and he has said to eat more carbs in order to continue with Metformin and not have migraines. Surely this can't be right?

I'm really fed up as I want to lose weight and I am being more active now and I can't just keep eating!

I'm not gaining weight, I am thinner and more mobile than I was, but I am really struggling with dietary control/Metformin control of my sugars. Can't help thinking it would be easier to come off the Metformin and just go back to a plain old fashioned sensible diet low in sugar and high in fibre with plenty of protein to feel full!

Has anyone any experience of this please?

The wife gets lots of migraines, she is not diabetic .. but she is great on the low carb high fat way of eating ..but once she starts to eat carbs she has to keep eating them to avoid migraines. She says it her way of getting carb flu, the body does not need carbs ..but they are addictive and so once you eat over your normal level of carbs you will need more .. your body is craving carbs and its way of forcing you to eat them is giving you the migraine.

I stopped taking Metformin when I joined the wife in her Low Carb High fat way of eating, in less than two years I lost 5st and feel brilliant.
