I have no wish to argue but I disagree. You, BB, are an advocate. The tweeter is a bully.

Apart from the very noticeable complete lack of diversity some of the people featured have weight issues.. as have I and many people here.
However I am not in charge of dietary advice for the entire country these people are/were the head of an organisation that has that power. Is it so bad to point out that their dietary advice hasn't helped them?
I'm not sure that it is..
That's Tim and Partha Kar's interpretation.. not necessarily everybody elses'.. that's why I posted a link to the initial tweet to let people make up their own minds rather than be influenced by the opening post. But the crux of this thread concerns body shaming and that can only equate to bullying.
Hi @bulkbikerBut we all do it? Don't we? In our minds if not out loud...
If you were sent to a dietician for eating advice and they were obese would you not question the quality of that advice?
Or maybe I'm just a body shaming old fascist..
No need to apologise.. I am what I am.I think maybe you are.... sorry. Like I said in my post my sons' best swimming teacher couldn't himself swim. I am glad you have found the answer to your weight problems and grateful that you are helping me with mine, but please don't judge me (and others) because I have other factors besides T2 going on in my body.
That’s fine I’m sure I have been called worse... probably by some other members here even if under their breath or out loud at their screens....Hi @bulkbiker
Just to explain... I ticked agree with your post - not because I agree you're a body shaming old fascist, but because I do a lot of cbt and I understand what you mean.
Presactly! However you (and I) aren’t in charge of an organisation that tells us what to eat and is completely happy in criticising dietary plans that differ from theirs. The heads and ex heads of that organisation should surely be viewed in a different light to us poor sops who are the recipients of such advice?

I haven't heard of/from Eddie for years and thought he might have died. It seems he is livelier than ever and just won't shut up. Sometimes I think that the low carb movement wouldn't be what it is today without him since he is very single minded on the subject. Just don't try arguing with him is my advice.Far as I can see, it's just Eddie doing Eddie. Nothing new really. Same as it ever was. Anyone who has been here for a while has seen it all before.
And I still don't see how anyone who was @'ted in his original tweet bears any responsibility to respond to it.
No but they are saying that looking like that isn't as good as looking slim. Why judge someone by the way they look?I assume most dietitians follow their own advice. A lot of the people in the picture look decidedly unhealthy. Pointing out their weight is simply a way of showing their advice is likely not good. Nobody here is saying their weight is due to a flaw in their character."
Why is it OK to point out a physical characteristic at all? Judge some one by the things they do not how they look. Yes their dietary advice is wrong, so judge them on that and only that.Pointing out someone is overweight is only "fat-shaming" if you believe that being overweight is a product of gluttony and sloth. Otherwise you're simply pointing out a physical characteristic. Perhaps it's you with the problem & not @lowcarbdiabetic."
Again that's fine for ordinary people... but should we not apply different criteria for people who are advising or even telling us what we should be eating? I think they should be held to a higher account. No but they are saying that looking like that isn't as good as looking slim. Why judge someone by the way they look?

I bet he was laughing all the way to the bank...Re 'pointing out a physical characteristic' I have been at a footie match where some members of the crowd shouted 'Freak, freak' at Peter Crouch just because he is so tall. That's OK then I suppose cos it isn't his fault he is tall?
Criticize the info they give, not how they look.Again that's fine for ordinary people... but should we not apply different criteria for people who are advising or even telling us what we should be eating? I think they should be held to a higher account.
The fact I think their organisation is conflicted and hypocritical might also be a factor in my view I will freely admit.
