Mini Med CGM use without actually pumping?

This may be a strange questions, but i could not find an answer and was hoping someone on a newer Medtronic MiniMed system could help me out.

So Medtronic uses Enlite CGM sensors, and a minilink transmitter that sends data to the Minimed Veo systems. Now, would it be possible to just use the CGM part of this system?

Lets say I were to remove the resevoir, and not be hooked up to an infusion set, could i go back to MDI but still use the pump and CGM features? Like someone would on a stand alone dexcom system?

I suspect you would need a cartridge in the pump as it would have a hissy fit with no delivery.
Medtronic do a stand alone system though.

My CGM functions normally when my Medtronic pump is suspended and not pumping insulin but as has been said I don't know if it would cause a problem without the pump set up to run and just acting as a receiver.

Oddly enough, i had a meeting with the Animas people and asked them a similar question as I heard that on the Vibe if you suspend the pump it suspends the CGM, which people seemed not to like.

The solution Animas gave me to this was not to use the suspend feature, but to set the temp basal to -100%, which just means that you are turning off the basal. This effectively suspends the pump if you wanted to disconnect but still use the CGM.

I would assume that if you set up one of these pumps, with an empty reservoir, with no tubing connected, it would effectively function as just the CGM readout and still track all your manual injections.Just go through all the screens to give a bolus, it should just pump air into nothing but record it like it gave insulin (but you just manually inject) so it should still provide all the calcs for IOB since you have been matching its automated functions with a manual one.

Does this make sense?
