I swear I do not have a clue whats going on atm :( I've had high blood sugars since august (hba1c went from 6.7 to 8.0) but generally was feeling OK... then in november/december I decided to get a bad kidney infection (3 lots of antibioticsover a period of 4 weeks and a lot of time off work in which I got into bother for) but since christmas my sugars have gone the complete opposite, im havings severe nighttime hypos (2x a week from 1x a fortnight) and 2 or 3 hypos during the day everyday (although I can mainly catch the day time ones) :( on top of the feeling rubbish due to diabetes and hypos, I'm now feeling sick, thirsty all the time and permanently tired :(

my boss pretended to show concern by saying if I was low to let him know, so today I was low but had run out of dextrose so had to go to the vendors to get a drink, told him if I didnt come back in 5 to come and look for me... 20 mins later he still hadnt looked for me (luckyly id got talking to a friend and wasnt collapsed somewhere) got back to my desk and he came out with "where have you been? it doesnt take 20mins to go to the vendor"

Grrrrr my mini winge about nothing over with :)

Hi Dragonflye,

I'm new to this forum thing but finding it very interesting, soz to read about your boss and his short sightedness (sounds like a bit of a pleb!). i'm interested in how you can tell if u have had a hypo whilst asleep? i'm type 2 on insulin (humlin I twice a day and humalog 3 times a day) and often wake up feeling absolutely awful in the morning. my readings in the morning are often quite high (ish) around 10 to 13 mmol/l... i still, like you, have all the symptoms i had before diagnosis (extreme tiredness, nausea, thirst and peeing a lot especially in the morning!) I sometimes go to bed tired and want to sleep but my legs want to run a marathon! and i wake up feeling terrible some days (feeling sick with a splitting head ache) could i dip into hypo land and then climb out again whilst asleep? or am i in hyper land and still high when waking up as i know the symptoms are similar....
Cheers,
Pete.

I unfortunately have no symptoms when I hypo during the night, or none that wake me... My husband usually has to bring me round with glucogon injection once ive started with cold sweats and am having muscle spasms and then it will take 4hours+ for my sugars to get out of hypo range (my last nighttime hypo lated for 6 hours...) and thats once ive "come round" enough to be aware of whats going on.

Diabetic for 23 years and I have only found out about liver dumping glucose!!!! Pete - i unfortunately wouldnt be able to say, not knowing your circumstances, from my basic knowledge it could be either scenario. Do you test during before bed? Could you also test during the night every now and again? ( I try to test at 3am at least 1x a week) :)
