Hi all,

Considering my first move into the world of insulin pumps.

Currently hypoing almost daily and really struggling to control the lows.

Has anyone used the Minimed 640G? If so how has the suspend feature worked for them? Can't seem to find any decent reviews online either for some reason.

Many thanks in advance,

Tom

Hi TOMJC,I have been using the 640g in conjunction the CGM since May last year and it was life changing for me as I had no hypo awareness at all.I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks very much both of you, much appreciated!

@yingtong - how effective is it at dealing with hypos? It it your first pump? How much day to day management does it require from you? I have many more questions I'm afraid, but maybe easier if I just ask why it has been so life changing? Thanks very mucb

Hi TOMJC I've been T1 for over 54 years and been well controlled for the past 45 years and about 5 years ago I lost my 'hypo' awareness,I managed to live with it for about 3 years, then,I had 5 severe disabling hypo's,requiring third party assistance, one of which was at the hospital waiting to see my DSN.She decided that I needed to go on pump with a CGM and it was decided that Medtonic 640g was the answer, the pump was not a problem, but getting CGM funding, but with great support from my Endo and DSN and many meeting it eventually funding was agreed. That a bit of the history, basically I was frightened to sleep in case I had hypo.
Basically the CGM switches the pump off when it see's b/s falling and when it see's b/s riseing it switches the pump back on.Yes there is a lot of work to do when you start pumping.Thankfully it appears that I am starting to get my hypo awareness back, but only time will tell.If I can be of anymore help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
