21 years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (aged 25) whilst pregnant, it never left me, I was put metformin and later gliclazide, and I've always had high bs readings and HbA1c levels, high teens. Now I'm on inulin at night and levels have reduced on average to 7 or 8 but spiking between 3 and 12. Was wondering if I was wrongly diagnosed as a type 2 and should have been type 1. Should I have been on insulin all these years?? Any ideas

Impossible to say really without tests and I doubt after 21 years your docs would bother. Ultimately, the treatment is the same so I don't really suppose it matters but I see your point, would have been nice to have known for sure. Sadly, I doubt you will.
