Have just my latest review with the DN (last one was in Dec 2014) and have got a mixed bag - hba1c down from 42 to 36, cholesterol up from 4.3 to 4.8 (LDL - 2.5 and HDL - 2.3) and weight down by another 4kg so overall not too bad! Cue discussion re possibility of taking statins despite agreeing that last time I took them it pushed my BS up from 48 at diagnosis to 54 and that they made me ill :mad::mad: so, as a compromise, I came away with a HEART UK leaflet on 'sensible eating' - you know the one - plenty of fruit, good serving of bread and cereals at each meal, pasta, rice, noodles, tortillas, low fat milk and yoghurts ...................:woot::woot::woot:.

I did a stupid thing and mentioned that I was testing and that my hba1c agreed with my own readings = "why are you pricking your fingers when your BS is in the normal range?" My answer "by testing I know what and what sized portions I can eat without spiking my BS hence why my readings are good"

However she's had her revenge because she wants to see me again next January - didn't say when though so it will probably be on the last possible date!!

As I have a full fat yog each day I may compromise and try the low fat version for a while - they are only 1.5g carbs more and at least I will be cutting down on my fats as advised by my new how not to get your BS down leaflet!

Why are you or your nurse concerned about your cholesterol results?

Although there is something wrong with your evaluation of the total. It looks like you have added the HDL and LDL together to arrive at the 4.8. That isn't how it works. The total cholesterol is the total of HDL and LDL plus a percentage of your triglycerides. (forget what percentage but you can Google it) so your total will be slightly more than 4.8 unless your triglycerides are miniscule, and if they are then that is brilliant because they are the little critters that cause most of the problems. Did you get a print out of the results, and what were your triglycerides?

Absolutely WELL DONE on the HbA1c. You should be dancing round the room with joy, plus great news about weight loss too. :)

Thanks @Bluetit1802 it was a better result than I thought - I knew my BS was reducing but not by that much particularly as I sometimes eat more carbs than usual.

I have no real concerns re my cholesterol levels as I consider them to be within the 'normal' range and if its good enough for my BS it's good enough for cholesterol as well! I didn't think about the triglycerides to be honest and yes, I added the two together to get my o/all reading - something to think about next time!

I did try the low fat yoghurt but I think I've been spoilt because it didn't taste as good as the full fat one so guess which one I'm going to buy in future!!!
