Greetings,
as you can see I am new here and as from Monday I am starting on insulin! I'm very nervous. I have tried both metformin and Gliclazide but both gave me terrible upset tummies, so my diabetic nurse has said this will be much better! :)
My numbers are constantly up in the 16-20's especially at night and I have very bad neuropathy in my feet, so I am looking forward to good control and feeling better. :(
I suppose I want to know what I will feel like when I inject? How easy have other people found it too change their lives to support the insulin regime?
I probably just need a bit of encouragement and support. Hypo's worry me too!
Thanks to everyone who will reply,
Mel :) :D

Hi Mel
Welcome to the forum, I am not any meds, I just wanted to give you a warm welcome to the forum!
Any questions just ask!
Sandy

Welcome
Good control will make you feel much better.

You get used to the injections very quickly. I am sure that you will be started on small doses and adjusted upwards gradually so as to avoid hypo's as much as possible. Of the injection sites that you will be shown I find the buttocks the most awkward but with the least sensation. Stomach and legs easier but can sometimes feel them more. Not tried the arms yet as mine are like match sticks. It looks as if it is part of your life now and will become second nature in no time. Much better than those high numbers and nerve pain.

I'm an old hand now - been at it 8 weeks and enjoy it so much that I am trying to swap my Novomix 30 for Basal / Bolus so that I can have more injections each day. Well for better control really.

Good luck.
