Type 1 MODY 4

Hey all... I have been diagnosed with MODY 4 the rarest for of genetic diabetes and there has only been 1 family diagnosed in the uk. I have searched everywhere online for some information and there seems to be nothing. Please can someone shed some light in what that actually entails?? Xx

Sorry I can't help with your particular genetic mutation (I'm a MODY3, the most common type and there are barely any of us here), but you could get in touch with Maggie Shepard at Exeter and ask what it means for you. Maggie's contact details are here:

Maggie is really helpful, and if you email or phone her she can probably tell you lots of info. There should also be a genetic diabetes specialist nurse for your area, I guess you have already been referred to them to have the genetic testing done? They should also be able to help with your MODY type.
