Type 2 Monitor readings

When I use my monitor which is a code free one I get different readings depending on which finger I take blood from which is pretty disconcerting. Thus morning my reading was 7.2 from my pinkie and then it was 6.1 from my middle finger. Is there any point in using a monitor if it gives you widely different results?

You will get a variation with any meter but they are accurate enough to keep your bloods in-check

Glucose levels are not static, they fluctuate, and as your blood is circulating all the time you will get different readings, even from the same finger, because of this.

So it's better to keep a record of your levels and look for trends over time, rather than wasting time and effort - and money(!) on test strips - pricking different fingers, though obviously individual readings can be important too.

I think the monitors are allowed to be out by +or - 15% by law and are still considered accurate. As Robbity says better to look for trends after certain foods. E.g does it tend to spike by a certain amount after eating something in particular or particular mealtimes or waking.
