It'd be funny if only a submission of a good BG level would start the car!

(imagine a SATNAV dreamy lady/guy speaking)

Incorporate it into a fingerprint scanner style start button and you have the car of the future!
 
2 points:
1) Just watch me try to get a of CGM sets out of the NHS!
GP she say :lol: a HbA1c is enough :twisted: Test strips are expensive enough!
2) How will the system know the driver is a diabetic and requires the restriction? Or are Ds forbidden to drive non D car?

I can see the pros and cons to this.

PRO: drivers will know when their BMs go low, early warning etc.
CONS: drivers may rely on the system too much, by waiting for the alerts before acting.

I can see that even if this technology became mainstream in the UK, the DVLA will sill advise you to check your BMs before setting off, and then every 2 hours, like they do now.

You'd have to display a big caveat on the screen saying that the readings should not be relied upon.

On a different subject...
I think it would be a good idea if mobile phones couldn't work from the drivers' seat of any vehicle, when the engine is running.....

Again, I agree and disagree.

Absolutely agree in normal circumstances, however, what if there was an emergency, and you were the only person in the vehicle ?

You are permitted to use a mobile whilst driving to call the emergency services.
