All meters have to pass the same accuracy tests before they can be marketed. What you need to watch is the cost of replacement strips, which can vary from £7-50 to £30 for 50. You only need one meter. You need many thousands of strips.

The cheapest strips are the Codefree and the Tee2.

Completely agree with @Bluetit1802 above with one proviso.
If you are going for a ketogenic way of eating then spirit healthcare also sell a meter that measures blood ketones as well as blood glucose . The Caresens Dual for which the glucose strips are slightly more expensive but the ketone strips are about the cheapest out there (still pricey at a pound per test but still the best value).
You may want to do a bit more research about a keto diet though...
