Sorry cmor16, but carbohydrates are what you can't deal with - eat them and the results will float around your bloodstream like the traffic on the M 25.
Chocolate which is high cocoa and low carb is OK in small amounts, for me at least, and when I eat berries I always have cream with them - but the bowl I use is actually a tea cup. The dairy foods are probably fine for most diabetics, we can cope with fat and moderate protein, but the carbs, I'm afraid, are always the problem, even when they have not been for a while - increase intake and things start to get silly again.
Thanks Resurgam, I have done loads of low carb in the past and know I have a problem with them so like many people this is a wake up call for me. I've just ordered a meter and strips so hopefully I will get this sorted. I wish I could lose weight a bit quicker though
I bought a trampoline - 20 minutes twice a day, stretching, bouncing - great for getting the heart going and with my mobility - bad knees and hips from a lifetime of hard knocks.
I was normal weight at diagnosis and lost a stone and three quarters in a couple of months just by cutting almost all carbs. I am now classed as (just) critically under weight; I have stabilised at 7 stone but would ideally like to be about 8 but it seems without carbs this is my weight; arms like pipe cleaners!!!
9 stone is a distant memory for me sadly :-(
Keep at the low carb diet and you may just see it again! I thought the same thing, but have been 9 stone now since 2014.
