yeah i did that yesterday but said it would take upto 28 days to comeAlso always make sure you have at least 2 meters.
When they switched my meters (due to cheaper strips) I asked for a second there and then. Was challenged as to why and they didnt argue, just handed over a second box.
If you do ever get the Dr's argue about the machines just write to the manufaturer, explain you are T1 and ask if they can send you a spare. Many of them actually will send out a free machine for T1's as they make the money on the strips anyhow.

did ring them this morning but since haven't been in touch, but I've sorted it at my doctors where they have a diabetic nurse so tyOh no!!! Yuck!!!
Yes, never be embarressed to do your bloods or injections in public! ;-)
I have never gone to the toilet to do anything like that when I've been in a public place, just do it there and then. And yes, always a good plan to have a spare monitor. I would go straight to your diabetic centre (if you have one) and just ask them for a new one straight away. They usually have a supply of them.
One lesson to take away from this. Don't be embarrassed about testing and injecting in public. There is nothing wrong with it and we shouldn't hide, least of all in unclean and unhygienic places like toilets!
