diabetes :P having to eat food in moderation
So yesterday I went to the doctors to pick up my prescription of strips and insulin needles after that went into chemist to pick them up. Sat waiting in chemist i was feeling the need to test my blood sugars so i thought I'd wait for the prescription then test, not wanting to pull my kit out as I'm a freshly diagnosed and would feel a little embarrassed,I know stupid right. So after picking my stuff up up from the chemist I went into the toilet to test, pulled out my monitor and down the toilet it went!!!!.....I had!!! to put my hand in and retrieve, which wasn't the best thing I've ever done So I've 100 strips with no monitor this morning going to ring my diabetic nurse as soon as possible.

Awe that's a shame...hope you get another one. Learns us not to use toilet for medical processes lol xxx

No.... Most of all in any bar clubs or dives !!!
Loos not only used for main use but a whole bag of others lol

One lesson to take away from this. Don't be embarrassed about testing and injecting in public. There is nothing wrong with it and we shouldn't hide, least of all in unclean and unhygienic places like toilets!

Also always make sure you have at least 2 meters.
When they switched my meters (due to cheaper strips) I asked for a second there and then. Was challenged as to why and they didnt argue, just handed over a second box.

If you do ever get the Dr's argue about the machines just write to the manufaturer, explain you are T1 and ask if they can send you a spare. Many of them actually will send out a free machine for T1's as they make the money on the strips anyhow.

tim2000s is 100% right,no need to hide.

Oh no!!! Yuck!!!

Yes, never be embarressed to do your bloods or injections in public! ;-)

I have never gone to the toilet to do anything like that when I've been in a public place, just do it there and then. And yes, always a good plan to have a spare monitor. I would go straight to your diabetic centre (if you have one) and just ask them for a new one straight away. They usually have a supply of them.

ty guys for all your replies,i know right feeling like i have to go to the toilet to test is stupid but at the time i was a little embarrassed. In the future I'll be whipping them out whenever needed feels a little strange been newly diagnosed but I'm coming to terms with everything

I've like 3 monitors at home, some i don't like. The one I dropped was the 1 I got given in hospital and weirdly like

been told not to test to often but ya if i don t feel well i will test simple as that,I've been testing 8-10 times a day. They told me to test before meals and before bed,but I've been doing it like the booklet says, before and after 2 hours after meals.

yeah i did that yesterday but said it would take upto 28 days to come

did ring them this morning but since haven't been in touch, but I've sorted it at my doctors where they have a diabetic nurse so ty

Ah yes I was embarressed when I was first diagnosed, now i'm a brazen hussy, I do it anywhere and everywhere lol !! (That includes injections too, if someone has a problem it's their problem not mine..!)
