I had a good bs level (4.9) before bed last night. tested at 3am (5.9). woke up at 8am (6.7) which is a bit high for me. I took 1 unit of Humalog tested 1 hour later 7.2 . I was wondering if my 3 pieces of bacon I had for a snack at 9pm night before could have something to do with it.

Hi @lyndonbycroft ,

For me personally, 3 rashers of bacon would have had negligible effect on my blood glucose because of the low carb content but I am aware that some forum members account for protein content when calculating insulin requirements.

It's possible that the bacon may have affected you but you may also be experiencing dawn phenomenon to some extent. It is often suggested that we shouldn't rely too heavily on an individual reading (or set of readings) but try doing exactly the same thing again and see if you get the same results.
