Yeah for sure it’s almost certainly dawn phenomenon. Combination of systemic - and perhaps especially hepatic - insulin resistance. The liver is supposed to secrete glucose on demand. One major demand time is just before waking. It secretes the glucose as requested, but doesn’t stop doing so in the presence of rising insulin. Additionally your whole body is also resistant and so cannot effectively use the glucose that the liver is pouring out with gay abandon. It’s like rolling a boulder down a snow covered mountain, then running after it and trying to rugby tackle it. More often than not, DP is the very last thing T2s get under control. It can take time and dedication depending on individual circumstance.
