Hi !
I’m new to this forum and wondered if anyone knows the deal with taking mounjaro with Metformin….was diagnosed two years with type 2. Take x3 a day of 500mg Metformin and have lost 3 stone through over hauling my diet too. Sugars have been in normal range since first review but weight loss has stopped to due to a drug I hand for vestibular migraines. Won’t bore you all with that as can’t do without it sadly. So…am starting mounjaro 2.5mg and wondered do you stop Metformin when on mounjaro.
Hi, when i discussed a similar situation (wegovy rather than mounjaro) with my diabetic nurse, she said to continue with the metformin. However, please discuss with your diabetic team as your situation may differ from mine.Hi !

Each person's situation may be different and you need to first get tested and discuss further steps with your doctor! For example, I have an allergy to certain medications, others may have various diseases.....Hi, when i discussed a similar situation (wegovy rather than mounjaro) with my diabetic nurse, she said to continue with the metformin. I don't take Mounjaro or any of the meds like that, but would guess that pancreatitis could be a side effect in some people and therefore you would be more at risk of having it again as you've had it before?I had a conversation with a diabetic nurse at the local hospital where he was discussing my high HBA1C ( prior to knee replacement surgery), he suggested Mounjaro would help me lose weight, but wanted to wait for my next HBA1C to decide..............I had a follow up conversation with his colleague last week, during which I mentioned that I'd had Pancreatitis.....she then said i would be unsuitable for Mounjaro, but didn't explain why?
I guess that's probably the answer. My pancreatitis was caused by a botched test for gallstones and my pancreas was nicked/torn during that procedure ( 13 days in ICU and 6 weeks hospital in total),,,,nothing I had done wrong, but i guess it's a wise precaution.I don't take Mounjaro or any of the meds like that, but would guess that pancreatitis could be a side effect in some people and therefore you would be more at risk of having it again as you've had it before?
