mowing the lawn is good for you

Just tested 2 hours after brekkie. Had my normal BIG bowl of mini shredded wheat and crunchy farmhouse bran, semi-skimmed milk, two coffees with milk and sweetener, and SMALL glass of orange juice (normal juice) Remarkably, I get away with that in the morning and have at least half my daily carbs for brekkie. If I ate that in the evening I'd be in double figures, but in the morning at two hours I'm normally low 5s/high 4s.
Today,I mowed the lawns (petrol mower but push job) in the two hours after normal brekkie, and at two hours got 4.3. Have to start mowing the neighbours lawns as well!

Hmm I think some further investigation is required. My lawn desperately needs mowing. I suggest you come over and put your theory to the test. My address is 4...

Grazer,
I would have thought that you wouldn't have needed a mower to mow the lawn, you would just do it "ram-style" and got a free brekfast!

I'd rather not think about Grazer doing it "ram-style" before breakfast

I tried it ram-style before breakfast once, but the hotel staff complained.

Guaranteed, if I spend a day in the garden cutting grass, digging and weeding I'm certain to get a hypo, 4.3 is a good reading 2 hours after breakfast Grazer but would have me reaching for a banana

Guess that's the advantage of not being on insulin; I don't need to. A banana would waste all that effort to get a lovely low by sending me up high. I just wait for lunch, no problem.

What if you do not have a garden?

Buy a window box, some grass seeds and a mini lawn mower?

Do you think watching other people cutting their grass would work as well?

Well it's funny you should say that Grazer, but there have been studies done regarding people WATCHING exercise videos but NOT actually doing the exercises and yes, they've lost weight. Apparently what we THINK about doing burns calories.

I have to say that one of my daughters-in-law has that off to a fine art. She's not one to exert herself at all if she can help it. She's developed the knack of 'suggesting' when it comes to physical work needing to be done and does it in such a way that other people always jump in to 'help' her and end up doing the lot! It works on my son but not on me.

The day she invited me round for an 'early lunch' puzzled me as I know she doesn't like me at all. But it soon opened my eyes. I found her nonchalantly sunbathing in the garden while my grandchildren paddled inside the kitchen in 2 inchs of water. When I questioned her about what had happened, she raised her sunglasses at me, shrugged her shoulders and said "I think the washing machine overflowed, I can't do anything about it." She then put her sunglasses back down and turned over to tan her back.

I flung the grandkids out into the garden while I switched off all the electrics and I was halfway through trying to drag the washing machine out of it's cubby hole when I realised what a mug I was." So I threw a bathtowel down on the floor and soaked it and then threw that at her and told her to shift her lazy, conniving backside. She watches my son as he mows the lawn and tells him "that grass needs putting in the bin". It never occurs to her to stoop down and help, she's quite content to stand and watch and give orders. My son's a hard worker so he naturally just jumps to and does everything, while she complains about having to wipe the kitchen worktop down after she's finished cooking.

Rather him than me is all I can say. I'm just the monster-in-law.

She rarely exerts herself at all and is as slim as a pin.
I've always been a carrier, pusher and shover of heavy things, yet I'm fat.

So I might try this watching other people lark for myself and see what happens.
