Hi All.
I was just wondering if anyone who has a pump and sensors or a closed loop system has had a MRI refused on the basis that the scanner’s didn’t know what they were dealing with. Despite removing the pump and sensors on the second attempt and with nothing attached I was still refused.
Many thanks as I’ve been in for 11 days now with a suspected TRI and spinal problems and feeling worse than when I was rushed in by ambulance.
Many thanks for your help.

I was not closed looping at the time but I had a MRI scan when I was pumping.
The operator was happy to look after my pump whilst I was in the scanner.

Sorry you're feeling so poorly, and have had this happen to you.

I had the same experience as In Response when I had an MRI on 2 occasions years apart. If it were me, I'd take this to the next level up, and query their justification for refusing you a medical procedure when you had nothing attached.

I am surprised that you were not scanned, despite removing all your equipment. That radiologists should contact her superiors for guidance.
I had both CT and MRI scans recently, and the radiologists knew about pumps and sensors. For the first one, I had already detached the insulin pump, and removed the sensor, but it was a surprise to me that even then plastic cannula had to be removed. Later, at home, I read instructions in the Tandem t:slim user guide and that confirmed that cannulas should also be removed.
Good luck.

Since you an in-patient, ask the nurses on the ward to contact the hospital diabetes nurses. They will support you.

What a crazy situation ! At least they will know what to do in the case of the next patient with a pump that thet meet.
