This sounds a thick headed question but anyway..

I very rarely eat bread nowadays. I am trying to get other members of the family to eat the best bread possible that their tastebuds and our budget will allow. I have looked in Sainsbury's (a large store), also in Morrisons for a mutigrain loaf and they don't seem to have them! :eh: No Tesco near us, but we have a Lidl as well.

I can only find multi seeded loaves though. Is it the same thing or different?

Hey Ladybird!

Before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I used to like the Warburton malted multi-seed (or the Tesco multi-grain, but you have said there is no Tesco near you). They both seemed pretty much the same to me and had similar ingredients, so I always thought they were the same but maybe with different quantities of seed/grain. I can't eat either of them now, unfortunately, but I'd give the Warburton one a go for the family if you can afford to (it was always a bit dearer than the Tesco one and it can all add up when you've got a hungry family to feed ).

p.s. I love you quote, where does it come from?

Hi lady bird
I have started to eat Burgen bread and I find it very filling Iceland sell it at £1 per loaf and also Asda have it on offer at the moment . Although it is not as cheap as some loaves it does tend to go further so actually works out cheaper than the normal cheap white sliced and is much better health wise

Thanks ladies.

Simdge - Will drop you a pm re the signature.

Carol - I was eating Burgen myself for a while, I don't mind it at all but my nearest and dearest can't stand it! They say it doesn't taste like bread, it's not soft..yadda yada.

Really I just wondered if here is an actual difference between the two that I mention because I only see wholegrain mentioned here on the forum as an alternative to Burgen, not multiseeded.

Grazer mentioned a multi-grain bread from Sainsbury's a few weeks back which he uses, I bought a loaf and have to say it was rather nice! I use Burgen as I like the taste and it has a few less carbs than other makes of bread.

Hi, :)
Am I the the only one getting spoiled.
My better half makes bread dough in a bread machine ensuring the ingredients are safe including seeds etc; then it is backed in the oven. (seeds can be added whenever you choose).
Lately additional pumpkin seeds were included (thanks Noblehead) which was fantastic.

I have made bread myself but I seem to be taking to long in the preparation and get in the way.

If you do your sums, there has got be some gain in home made bread.

Roy. :D
