Mum to Newly Diagnosed 2 Year Old

Hello everyone

One week ago today, my little 2 year old boy was diagnosed type 1 and it felt like my world ended. A week on and I have accepted it, but as you would expect still have my wobbly moments.

Just getting to grip with BM testing, insulin and food. Meal times are the worst for me at the moment. Getting a 2 year old to eat at the best of times, so you can imagine how hard this is with a diabetic 2 year old!

We have had a lot of love and support, and we are very lucky that he did not become poorly. I just noticed he was drinking a lot, and knowing that was a sign, I took him to the GP who acted very quickly and we ended up in hospital over the weekend.

He is taking Insultard and Novorapid, and is still running quite high, but as they up his doses, the levels are reducing gradually.

Is there anyone else out there like me with a diabetic toddler who has any magic tips.

Thanks for listening xxx
