Hi I was diagnosed type 2 last Easter.
There has been quite a number of members talking about confusion regarding carbs etc.
I attended a course run by my local hospital in Cardiff, I'm sure they must be all over, it was very good indeed and besides being informative it also blew away some myths re what and what not to eat and drink.
My best advice is get a copy of Carbs and Cals published by Diabetes UK. You can get a pocket version or better still I have an App for my iPad that you can set for your height and lifestyle and it gives you your daily carbs, calls etc. with pictures of portions as well.

Hi Alun,

There are mixed reviews about these courses on the forum.

I am glad that you found yours to be informative.

Lucky you finding your course useful, lots would disagree. I agree the book and app are very useful, however my best advice to any type 2 would be to get a meter and test your blood glucose....before each meal and again two hours after. That way you will soon know if what you're eating is right for you.
