My blood sugar response to cortisone injections

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had two spinal cortisone injections last Tuesday. It has been suggested that these can raise the blood sugar levels in diabetics, and I can certainly confirm this. The evening before the injections my reading two hours after supper was 5.3. The following morning fasting reading was 5.2 and 5.3 two hours after breakfast. About an hour before the injections I was at 5.1. Had the injections late afternoon, and my two hour post supper reading was 8.5. Fasting the next morning was 7.8 and things remained pretty much at these levels for the next couple a days. Fasting readings then dropped to the mid sixes but I've had a couple of rather nasty 9 and 12(!) spikes after meals. I haven't tested for the past couple of days, as it seems my levels are going to be a bit high for a while and I may as well save my fingers and test strips. I'll probably test again on Friday and see how it is going. Does anyone know why cortisone has this effect. (I'm diet contolled only )

Tested this morning for the first time since the start of the week. 5.7 fasting, which is the lowest it's been since the jabs. (and that was after take away chips and a square of chocolate last night). More alarmingly, the injections seem to have triggered a 5lb weight loss in the last 10 days - and I was pretty much my ideal weight to start with. :?
