Brunneria and Chook mentioned chia pudding on a thread yesterday and thanks to Amazon Prime I took delivery of a pouch of Sevenhills Wholefoods raw organic chia seeds today, 300g for 4.29
I haven't eaten chia before and I have to say, looking online at photos, that it looks like bird seed when whole and tiny frog spawn when soaked. Have noo idea whether I have suitable ingredients, as we don't use sugar, honey, agave syrup or sweeteners, for starters.
Looked in the larder and fridge and came up with these:
Lindt 90% cocoa dark chocolate
Rude Health unsweetened organic hazelnut drink
Holy Cow organic Devonshire clotted cream
Daylesford organic cinnamon quills which The Husband blitzed into powder with the coffee grinder
Clipper organic Fairtrade Latin American instant coffee (and we don't even drink it)
Schwartz whole nutmegs still in date (minor miracle)
Green & Black's organic unsweetened cocoa
Nestle Carnation evaporated milk 170g tin (haven't had it since I was about 11 but OH fancied some)
It occurred to me, that the frog spawn look of chia seeds might work as arroz doce - it's a trad Portuguese dish of long grain white rice, sugar, lemon rind, egg yolks, milk and cinnamon. Would need some major tweaking though. Have plenty of eggs, milk and lemons
Schlepping to the supermarche tomorrow, are there any other ingredients which you could suggest please ?
Am aiming to make a few small ones on Thursday afternoon to try with husband Friday night.
What are the pitfalls I should avoid as a chia seed novice please ?
