Well I saw the consultant today and he seemed a pretty cheerful fellow!!

Having had type 2 for 8 years, PCOS and being quite young in age he queried why I hadn't seen anyone before at the Diabetes Clinic???!!!

Anyway apart from the usual lose weight and do more exercise he has put me on Byetta as he feels my sugars are far too high and he'd like to avoid the Insulin path for a little longer. He's also taking me off the poiglitazone as its causing odema at the moment and I've had to go out and buy no elastic socks!! I'm only 35 and this is something I thought I would be buying in my sixties!! I still get to take the dreaded metformin!

I don't think he is a fan of low carb diets cos when he viewed my food diary he told me off for having bacon + egg for b'fast, he mumbled something about this should be an occasional treat!!!! Far more healthier to eat porridge or muesli in the morning! Anyway enough said about that, have got an appt to see the Dietician on Tuesday so I will take her advice with a pinch of salt.

I've increased my carbs slightly to probably what other consider low carb but I couldn't stand the tummy pains and constipation any longer so I've added some more fruit in my diet and 2 crispbread or 1 slice of gluten free bread at lunch time and in the evening I either have 2 small new potatoes in skins or 1 large tbsp of pasta/rice and it seems to be helping in all areas!!

Have to say that when the DSN was teaching me to inject earlier this afternoon I was pooping myself as I hate needles but it was okay when I had to do it and I didn't feel the needle at all!

Hi Fiona,
If you need any advice or information about Byetta just ask. I was one of the first in the UK on Byetta, have done a great deal of research on it, and have pestered the manufacturers for information so often they must be sick of me by now!

Hi Dennis

Thanks for that

Think the only questions I've got is how to try and avoid the nausea - DSN said to eat straight after injecton as this will help - would a ginger biscuit help if feeling nauseaus, and what happens if you have your main meal at lunchtime, do you inject then or later on when having your tea? eg on Sunday my main meal is at lunchtime but during the week it is in the evening.

Fiona,
I've answered your questions on the Byetta thread.
