last night I was overwhelmed with pangs of wanting an Indian - so I did in Brick Lane.
Poppadoms with all the sauces
plus my half share of :
spinach dal,
lamb passanda ( made with cream and almonds)
mutter paneer ( cheese and peas)
cucumber raita ( yoghurt)
lamb rogan josh. ( tomatoes and oil)
No rice but enough calories to sink a battle ship . Probably at least 1800 I'm a kilo heavier today ....
BUT from a starting point of 4.9 - the initial sugar spike peaked at 7. 2 45 minutes later after 90 minutes back to 6.1 , the later protein spike peaked at 7.6 and so far the morning liver dump also seems to have topped out at 7.6 too -
My none diabetic friend accompanied me - she has also been low carbing . We both measured blood sugars together after 90 minutes - she was at 7.0 I was at 6.1 - she's miffed !
Whilst finding out I can eat an Indian may be bad for my weight loss program, its lovely to see that I've got the the stage where I can eat something ridiculous and still not end up in serious trouble on the blood sugar front
Now I jut have to fast for a day to get rid of the excess calories !
Glad you enjoyed it bet it will not be the last time you have an Indian meal now you know you are ok with it. I think many of us could eat that and be ok as long as we stay off the rice nan bread and probably the poppadomslast night I was overwhelmed with pangs of wanting an Indian - so I did in Brick Lane.

When on a " diet " I weight myself very single morning and record it oging back years. Thus I can measure how successful my attempts at losing weight have been over 25 years. what I can't do is tell anyone exactly why it went the other way - as of course that's when I avoid the scale! At least a decent curry is good for intestinal transit times. Don't forget that extra kilo will be a combination of food still in the body and water. I've weighed myself daily for a long time and the difference from day to day can very surprising. I sometimes put the numbers into a spread sheet and then do a trend analysis, then get depressed because it's up. LOL
Good news that you can eat a favourite meal without causing too many negative issues.
A word of caution. I have eaten the same meal 3 times over the previous 18 months in the same Indian Restaurant, and had completely different BG reactions every time, so vigilance is still necessary.
Glad you enjoyed the meal...
