Well it seems to be working. I was at my doctor today for results of blood tests and insead of him saying I have to go on Insulin which I thought was going to happen, he has given me another three months to get things under control. I was a bit afraid to mention the low carbing as I know some medical staff dont beleive in it, but he was fine and was actully quite interested in it himself having bought a few books about it ! So I am quite happy and hopefully things will improve with my readings. They are still quite high but he says they are coming down so next three months should tell better as I did not start low carbing till 29th May. I dont really understand the Hba1c readings but I know they were something like 99 in January then 77 a few months ago and today 71 so as he said although not down enough coming down. I also spoke to him about the problems I have with Metformin and he has changed it to SR Metformin so hopefully things are looking up for me after loosing the plot for a while. Thanks to everyone on her for advice :D

Hi Cosy,

Sounds like you have a doctor who's interested in listening. Mine is like that and it's great though I think we're in the minority.

Yes looks like more GP's are interested in learning ways that can help which is great. Having a GP willing to help you must be a great relief. At 71 you are still just outside what the NHS considers a safe range. To get into NHS safety you need to aim for less than 59 or 7.5% in old money. You are not far off so well done especially as you've only been low carbing a couple of weeks or so.

Don't expect miracles it took me around 8 weeks to consistently get readings below 8 after eating but hopefully you can continue making brilliant progress.

Yes it is great to have a GP who is interested in things that help me as his paitent and not just go along with what the 'rules' are. I hope to keep this up and not treat it as a 'diet' just get myself into a way of life. I have been a bit kind of in denial for a while and will be patient in getting my readings down. Yesterday was a bit high for my liking and I dont really know why, but came down again by the end of the day so I will put that behind me. I just feel I have found a way of getting some control over this at long last :D
