I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in February this year, my readings were 52mmol I was put on Metformin 2000mg per day I've lost nearly 2 stone since, I had my 3 month bloods took yesterday, it came back at 40mmol or was a typing error because the doctor has put abnormal as expected need to speak to the diabetic nurse which I do on 13th June, oh and they put need to do a fast blood test after 5 days but before 2 weeks, I'm confused now because I assumed 40mmol is normal not abnormal, think cholesterol was up slightly as well on 40mg avorstatin gets more confusing by the minute, abnormal at 40mmol as expected??????? Any one else experienced that?

Yes I have. It started happening a while ago that if one blood test was abnormal, then all of the other ones taken at the same time were classed as abnormal by some Gp's. Queried it with a different gp and he wasn't sure why, but maybe something to do with the computer!!!

Well done @Mrkmtchll2512
The odd couple of mmol could have been the Metformin at work, but the majority of your 12mmol Hba1c improvement will have certainly been due to your hard work improving your diet.
A Hba1c of 40 is definitely not abnormal, it is in fact in the normal range, great work.xx

Generally they’ll put Abnormal for blood tests if there is anything in the panel that is Abnormal, so it may be that other bloods they took at the same time have an Abnormal result. Usually if you look at the whole panel next to each result they’ll put whether it is below/above the reference limit. Congrats on such an awesome result though!

Well done reducing your A1c and your waistline, @Mrkmtchll2512 .

I agree with the others, in terms of the comment mad by your GP. In terms of your cholesterol, if you have been losing weight, that may have impacted your cholesterol numbers. Many find it settles back, or oftentimes improves once weight is stable.
